Clean your hurricane shutters to keep them working properly

Hurricane shutters help protect your home and family from nasty weather, such as hurricanes and tropical storms. And they are very effective at doing just that. But in order for them to work properly they need to be maintained.

Some maintenance tasks, such as motor maintenance or lubrication can be done by companies like Eurex Shutters in Southwest Florida. But others you can do yourself (DIY) at home.

One key component of hurricane shutter maintenance is cleaning your storm shutters. Cleaning helps keep your shutters looking great. But it also helps reduce build of dirt and grime and even insect nests. These things may hinder your shutters’ performance.

In most cases you can clean your shutters with a mild soap and water solution. The cleaning process for some, such as clamshell or accordion shutters, is pretty easy. For others, such as Bahama shutters and roll down shutters you will really want to clean in between the slats and ridges to get a deep clean.
